Posted October 7, 2013

PROJECT TITLE: The Big Picture
CLASSIFICATION: Independent
STATUS: Non-Union
CATEGORY: Short Film; Monologue with flashback (a comic strip acted out)
FORMAT: 35mm, Super 16mm, 16mm, HD, DV
DISTRIBUTION: Public access
PRODUCER: Trisha Barron
WRITER: Trisha Barron
SHOOTING LOCATION: Atlanta Georgia

SYNOPSIS:

What’s happening here is Mama is (somewhere, to be determined) talking to the audience. The goal is to introduce the main players and to let us know how she thinks and her motivation behind the concept of the Big Picture. The ideal of looking beyond what’s right in front of you. She is a mother and very serious about that role, she owns a bookstore, she has a sense of humor, a little dry but funny, she is very nurturing to all. She is not a Madea but maybe her calm, smart, classy sister. Here is a link to her background and some strips. http://jerrycraft.net/mamasboyz.html

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:

Tyrell
Tyrell is my oldest son, he’s 18 years old. Some would say he’s kind of shy. He is a senior in high school. I think he wants a girlfriend.

Yusef
Yusef is my 16 year old. I hate say it but he is more popular and more athletic and taller than his brother Tyrell. He loves sneakers and clothes. He’s pretty popular with the girls. It may seem he’s more independent than his older brother, but Tyrell is his best bud.

Grandpa
My father lives upstairs. He’s a retired chef. He likes to cook and listen to Jazz. I keep telling him he needs to change the way he cooks, like doing less frying and more baking. I’m working on it.

Uncle Gregg
Gregory Tisdale is my baby brother. The kids call him Uncle Greggo. He is 32 years old. He likes music, movies and video games as much as my sons, so of course he gets along well with Yusef and Tyrell. He owns a computer graphics and consulting company. I say he’s afraid of commitment and he’s cheap.

Keisha
Keisha helps me out in the bookstore, when she’s not in school. Keisha is the daughter that I never had. She is 18 years old like Tyrell. Keisha actually dated Tyrell for a very short time, but now they are just great friends. (Keisha strip coming soon)

Sara
Sara goes to school with Tyrell and Yusef. She’s a fashionista. She tells me she likes to take here moms old clothes and make them stylish, she calls it a retro look.. I believe she has a crush on Tyrell.

Sam
Sam goes to school with my sons. He loves baseball. He knows every stat about every team. He’s a walking database, well at least in the things he wants to be.

SYNOPSIS:

The project is called Blood Red and it is envisioned as a straightforward giallo, like Dario Argento’s Deep Red or Tenebre. (An over-serious throwback to early 80s slasher movies with an unearned excess of stylistic flourishes and not a hint of the post-modern self-referential hipness of something like Scream). We will be shooting two self-contained scenes of a horror movie, an opening prologue and a flashback that reveals the origin of the movie’s antagonist.

These two scenes will be included with business plan and script to present to investors. Also, they will be submitted to festivals to publicize the film for future production and release. Additionally they will be included in the final cut of the film. There is nudity and violence.

CREW POSITIONS NEEDED:

1. Production assistant – a general overall production assistant, help with moving equipment, wrangling props, helping set up and breakdown location, wrangling actors, being available whenever crew needs assistance. Being available for Director, AD and Producer.

Should be able to run camera, pull focus, assist with dolly, jib arm, etc. We will be shooting RAW on Canon 5D Mark II using Magic Lantern Firmware and a VAF anti-aliasing filter and using CinemaRAW in post. We have a Juiced Slider (4, 6, 8 foot rails), platform dolly, and small jib.

3. Assistant Grip – to be able to move, set up lights and breakdown lights based on what Director of Photography and Grip need. We will be using some Lowell halogens (2 Totas, 2 Omnis, 3 Pros, a Rifa Box 44 and a Rifa Box 55), three softboxes with CFLs and three small but potent dimmable LED 160s.

Cast/Crew/Location Calls for Short Film “Flesh Computer” [Los Angeles] #casting #crewcall #locationcall

lesh_computer_sketch_4color

Posted April 27, 2013

PROJECT TITLE: Flesh Computer
CLASSIFICATION: Independent
STATUS: SAG
CATEGORY: Short Film
DIRECTOR: Ethan Shaftel
PRODUCTION COMPANY: easyAction
SHOOTING SCHEDULE: June 6-9 2013
SHOOTING LOCATION: Los Angeles

SYNOPSIS:

We are a team of industry professionals shooting a passion project: a visually stylized and intellectually mind-bending short film, set in a dark future populated by organic machines. Very high production value with award winning production-design team, cinematographer, and visual effects. Already partially cast with some amazing performers, we are seeking a few additional actors to bring the world to life! (Not a huge paycheck but a very high quality cinema piece for your portfolio, and a short shooting schedule)

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:

SKINNY – MALE, 13-30 years old — Mean, like a mongrel dog is mean. Kicked down his whole life; fed scraps, if at all. Now Skinny is MAD. Looking to kick someone else down for a change. Looking for power, looking for a moment of control. Cruel by nature and stick thin; bad skin, bad teeth, bad hair, BAD EVERYTHING. If this sounds like you, then I’m scared! But if this sounds like a role you could play, then please apply!

CHUNKY – MALE, 13-30 years old — Chunky peers out at life through beady pig-eyes filled with mistrust and suppressed hurt. If he sees a cat get hit by a car, he laughs and snorts with glee, because that animal got what it deserved, what EVERYONE deserves. If a neighbor’s house burns down, Chunky is over the moon, gloating; his black heart joyful. Chunky stuffs his face, picks on the weak, and toadies to his tougher friend Skinny. If this sounds like you, then you are a disgusting human animal, but if this sounds like a role you could play, then PLEASE APPLY!

EMILY — FEMALE, 6-14 years old — Emily is curiosity itself, head craned back to watch the stars one minute, crawling in the dirt the next minute to see what the worms are doing. She’s a true innocent in a dangerous world, observing life she doesn’t understand. Our young actress must be comfortable in contacts, as she will be required to wear a standard colored contact in one eye for visual effects work (In the final film, Emily will appear to have one artificial eye that glows in the dark).

MATTHEW — MALE, 40-60 years old — Matthew is Emily’s father, and though he is a fascinating person while awake, in this film he is only ever seen fast asleep on the couch, snoring loudly and lost in his dreams, and unaware of the drama unfolding around him. Looking for a mature, unique face, years of history, deep lines. A large, solid, heavyset man, a father to depend on.

CREW POSITIONS NEEDED:

Production Designer — science fiction experience a plus
Wardrobe/Make up

LOCATIONS NEEDED:

Creepy Basement — large cement area, pipes and ducts a plus
Retro Apartment — living room with couch and TV
Apartment Hallway — drab and non-distinct, slightly industrial

Cast and Crew Call for Feature Film “Love Profile” [California] #casting #crewcall

PROJECT TITLE: Love Profile
CLASSIFICATION: Independent
STATUS: Non-Union
CATEGORY: Feature Film
FORMAT: HD
DISTRIBUTION: Festival circuit, streaming, DVD, BluRay, maybe theatrical
SHOOTING LOCATION: California

SYNOPSIS:

As Derek is about to propose to his girlfriend Sara, whom he has been dating for three years, by surprise, he catches her in the act of cheating on him. Because of this, he decides to break up with her. But even though he hates her for what she did to him, he is still devastated by the breakup. He posts his status about the relationship online on the social network site he belongs to, and a woman, Noreen, who is not even his friend but a friend of a friend, makes a comment that catches his attention. Somehow this one and only comment he got saves him from committing suicide.

Because of this, Derek starts to fall in love with her. He then decides to go see her in real life, and she agrees to see him too. But on the day that they are about to see each other, she does not show up. Because of this, Derek is devastated and heartbroken. Would he see her again? What if she is THE ONE, his SOULMATE.

(The story might be simple, but it has a very good twist in the end. Also very dialogue driven and some emotional scenes, so this would be a great showcase for an actor.)

OTHER NOTES:

Hello there,

I am shooting my Thesis film at Brooklyn College and I’m in need of a production designer. You will need to be available on November 6th and 7th for the actual installation. Fine Art Students or Recent Graduates are welcomed! You would need to be experienced with installations. The scenes require a re-creation of a psych ward common room with an office window and office door as well as an exiting door with a real lock and key. Think: “One Flew over the Cuckcoo’s Nest” set design. The second scene requires a tiny patient room with a tiny jail-like bed frame built for the set or maybe just a small bed frame that I could purchase. The third scene is the inside of an office, but I’m sure some how this could be cheated with an existing office. Maybe these walls could be interchangeable so that the common room can be doubled as the patient room? Being a film student, I am on a low budget so I am offering $500 compensation. I am ideally looking for some one with contacts to prop houses and production studios. Please send some samples of your work. I am looking forward to meet ASAP! SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY

Thanks so much and I look forward to hearing from you.

SYNOPSIS:

Animals is the story of a nameless, reclusive woodsman who, during his morning routine stumbles upon a beautiful, unconscious girl who has been bound to a tree and left for dead in the middle of the forest. His decision to help the girl soon sends him spiraling into a disturbing mystery that could be described as a very dark, modern-day Beauty and the Beast.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:

GIRL,18-25; Attractive and petite. Although she may at first seem to be your average damsel in distress–fearful and delicate–her powerful will to survive gives her a surprising, sometimes vicious inner-strength.

MR. NICE GUY, 30-60; A Wolf in sheep’s clothing whose almost theatrical congeniality and plastic smile only serve to hide his very twisted intentions–think car salesman meets Hannibal Lecter.
