Winter Film Awards Independent Film Festival announces a Call for Entries for its 7th Annual celebration of independent film, to be held February 22 – March 3, 2018 in New York City. Filmmakers from around the world will travel to NYC to attend the Festival’s full week of film screenings and industry networking after-parties, which will conclude with a glittering awards ceremony to be held on March 3, 2018.

The rapidly growing Festival – which was recently voted one of the Top 10 Best Reviewed Festivals on FilmFreeway – seeks a diverse collection of creative indie films from NYC and worldwide in all genres – ranging from narrative features to short films, from documentaries to animation, and from music videos to web series and horror films.

Outstanding work will be awarded for each category, along with Best Director, Best Actor/Actress, Best Original Score, Best Student Film and the NY Perspectives Award for best depiction of the New York multi-cultural experience. For the 2017 Festival, 88 films from 30 countries were selected for screening, including 42% made by women, 45% made by people of color and 33 first-time directors. Works of all genres, forms, and lengths are considered for Festival screening.

The Ann Arbor Film Festival is the oldest avant-garde and experimental film festival in North America, founded by George Manupelli in 1963. Internationally recognized as a premiere forum for independent filmmakers and artists, each year’s festival engages audiences with remarkable cinematic experiences. The six-day festival presents 40 programs with more than 180 films from over 20 countries of all lengths and genres, including experimental, animation, documentary, fiction, and performance-based works.

Awards:
The AAFF offers approximately $21,000 in cash and in-kind awards each year.

Entries:
Open to the public

Eligibility:
The Ann Arbor Film Festival is open to all motion pictures and all genres that demonstrate a high regard for the moving image as an art form. Work previously submitted may not be re-entered. Entries are accepted in one of two categories: short and feature length. Short films are 59 minutes and under in runtime. Feature films are 60 minutes or longer in runtime. Foreign entries should have English subtitles.

Formats:
Entries are accepted in the following formats: Internet Link (URL) and 16mm. We DO NOT accept DVD, Blu-Ray, VHS or video data files for screening purposes.

If you would like the festival to prescreen a 16mm print of your film, please contact the AAFF directly to make shipping arrangements at submissions@aafilmfest.org

One AAFF entry form or withoutabox entry is required per film. Please submit a brief 2-3 sentence statement (no more than 70 words) about your film for use in the festival program.

Please do not submit a press packet with your film. Due to the volume of entries we cannot ensure that your press packet will survive submission season. If your film is accepted, you will be notified of how to submit your press material.

1st Annual “I See You Awards” for Low Budget Indie Filmmakers [Detroit, MI] #filmfestival #callforentries

Now there’s an awards program designed specifically for low-budget independent filmmakers.

The awards were created by Terri Lee, a professional film critic for WWJ Newsradio 950 / CBS Radio Detroit. Terri is a member of several film critics groups, including the Detroit Film Critics Society (DFCS) and the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA), the largest film critics group in the U.S. and Canada.

The “I See You Awards” provide an opportunity for low-budget independent filmmakers worldwide to be recognized and rewarded for their accomplishments. The first annual awards will be handed out on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Boll Theater in downtown Detroit, the hottest turnaround story in the United States!

Currently, sponsors include the Michigan Film & Digital Media Office, Emagine Entertainment, The Lee Group, LLC and WWJ Newsradio 950/CBS Radio Detroit, among others.

Our austerity-beating submission fee this year, is a mere £12 per entry until Monday January 30th 2017 – after that date the submission fee will rise, so get your skates on, but don’t blame the intern if you miss it!

Call for Entries: 36th Annual Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival #filmfestival

Submissions are now open for the 36th Annual Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival, April 20 – May 6, 2017. Films made after January 1, 2016 are now being accepted for consideration.

Presented by the Film Society of Minneapolis St. Paul, MSPIFF is one of North America’s largest and longest-running film festivals. The festival annually features new films from more than 70 countries to an audience of over 45,000 and attracts around 250 visiting industry guests from around the world. Panel discussions, parties and student screenings are highlights of the festival’s 17-day run each year.

Submissions are accepted through Withoutabox and FilmFreeway with the following deadlines:

Earlybird: September 1, 2016
Regular: October 15, 2016
Late: November 15, 2016
Extended: December 15, 2016
Withoutabox Extended: December 31, 2016

In recognition of Minnesota’s filmmaking community, MSPIFF offers one (1) complimentary submission per individual for projects that qualify as “Minnesota Made” and are submitted before the Late Deadline, November 15, 2016. Eligible “Minnesota Made” films submitted between November 16 – December 31, 2016 may request a 50% discounted entry. To qualify, a film’s director must be a current Minnesota resident OR a combined 50% or more of production and/or post-production must have taken place in Minnesota. Festival Cinema Invisible is now accepting film submissions for its 2016 Film Festival at Proctor’s GE Theatre in Schenectady, New York.

Upstate New York-based Festival Cinema Invisible (FCI) is now accepting independent films for its 3-day festival (April 1 – 3, 2016) of Persian language and Middle Eastern films at Proctor’s GE Theatre.

Festival Cinema Invisible is an independent, not-for-profit venue dedicated to celebration of Middle Eastern arts and cinema. FCI is seeking “invisible” films for its 2016 film festival. Filmmakers of Middle Eastern origin regardless of their place of residence, as well as filmmakers making films about topics or subject matter related to the Middle East are encouraged to submit their films. FCI does not charge an entry fee for submission. All films submitted will be reviewed by the selection committee.

The FCI website (cinemainvisible.org) cites several categories of Invisible Cinema including Hidden Cinema (where themes or ideas are hidden, however unconsciously, in the works of one or more filmmakers), Censored Cinema (where the film is not permitted to screen within its country of production), and Unseen Cinema which includes films that have been forgotten or ignored.

WINTER FILM AWARDS announces a CALL FOR ENTRIES for the 2016 Indie Film Festival to be held Feb 24-27 2016 in NYC. We seek diverse, fresh voices & creative indie films from NYC and the entire world in all genres – feature length and shorts, narrative fiction, documentary, animation, horror, web series and music videos. Submissions deadlines: Early-Sept 1, Regular-Nov 1, Late-Dec 1.

Now in its fifth year, the rapidly growing Festival showcases the work of emerging filmmakers, and we build our screening program from submissions, not invited films. Each year, roughly 90% of selected films were received via regular submissions. For the 2015 Festival, 76 films from 29 countries were selected for screening, including 34 by female directors and 20 student films, and 75% had a budget under $50k. Works of all genres, forms, and lengths are considered for Festival screening.

Following the recent success of the WFA Kickstarter campaign, The Winter Film Awards announces a CALL FOR ENTRIES for the 3rd Annual Independent Film Festival to be held February 27 – March 1 2014 in New York City. The weekend festival consists of three days of film screenings and industry networking after-parties culminating in an awards show to be held on March 1.

The WFA Festival focuses on the diversity of independent film, and offers an exciting mixture of film genres, viewpoints and subjects in order to give attendees the opportunity to see films they might never think to seek out. Among the 58 films selected for the 2013 Festival was a collection of documentaries, shorts, features, animation, music videos and horror films, including 9 student films, 15 female directors and representation from over 15 countries. Much like New York City itself, the Festival brings together the kaleidoscope of personal experiences into a glorious and energetic whole.

WFA 2014 Festival Submission categories include Narrative Feature, Foreign Language, Short, Documentary, Animation, Music Video, Horror and Screenplay categories. Outstanding work will be awarded for each category, along with Best Director, Best Actor/Actress, Best Original Score, Best Student Film and the PERSPECTIVES Award for best depiction of the multi-cultural experience. Submissions deadlines are as follows: Early Bird Deadline – October 15 2013, Regular Deadline – November 15 2013, Late Deadline – December 1 2013, Extended Deadline – December 15 2013. Winter Film Awards (WFA) is a non-profit 501(c)3 volunteer-run and operated organization which celebrates diversity of local and international film-making.
