PLOT SUMMARY: CULLEN, A SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD DROPOUT, STEALS AND RESELLS SCRAP METAL UNDER THE GUIDANCE AND CLOSE SURVEILLANCE OF HIS OLDER COUSIN. SEEING AN UNFAVORABLE FUTURE WRITTEN ON THE WALL, CULLEN DECIDES TO QUIT WHILE HE’S AHEAD. HE MAKES ONE FINAL RUN AND COVERS HIS TRACKS, EVENTUALLY LEADING HIM TO STUMBLE UPON THE QUAINT TOWN OF CHINA GROVE. ALTHOUGH HE PLANS TO STAY JUST LONG ENOUGH TO SET HIS NEW COURSE, CULLEN MEETS A GROUP OF LOCAL TEENS AND GETS A TASTE OF THE SPONTANEOUS YOUTH HE HAS MISSED. HE UNINTENTIONALLY DEVELOPS A STRONG CONNECTION WITH RUTH, THE “NOT-SO-GIRL-NEXT-DOOR” WITH HER OWN SET OF SECRETS. THROUGH THE EYES OF OUR ENSEMBLE, WE EXPERIENCE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED RAIDER FOOTBALL, GARY’S BBQ, AND A SERIES OF UNFORGETTABLE NIGHTS, AS THE CHARM OF CHINA GROVE COLLIDES WITH THE IMPENDING DANGER CULLEN ACCIDENTALLY BRINGS ALONG WITH HIM.
