SYNOPSIS:

The film is set over a series of 3 Christmas Eves.

We first come to know our main character as a young boy singing “Amazing Grace” with the choir at a candlelight service in a small town church. He has grown up in a Christian family but seems to be developing a counterfeit view of what God’s grace really is. As we see him try to measure up to the people around him, we discover that he thinks that “grace is for the one who smiles the biggest and prays the loudest.” He lives under this weight for quite some time and carries it on into his young adult life. But sitting outside the church he grew up in, something changes one fateful Christmas Eve, and he comes to a better understanding of the true meaning of grace. The future is changed forever as a result of this revelation and he lives out the rest of his days with the childlike sense of wonder that he once knew.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:

1) Young boy (8-10). Grows up in a Christian family and even sings in the choir at church, but soon finds himself becoming concerned that he doesn’t measure up to the people around him when it comes to being a good Christian. Becomes concerned that he will let God down if he doesn’t pray the right way and work hard enough to make Him happy.

2) Young man (22-27). His room is littered with trophies and accomplishments, but something is still missing. The weight of trying to measure up is getting to him. Even to the point that he feels unworthy to go back to church with his family. But sitting in the car just outside the church, something changes. A spark of revelation of the true meaning of grace. Things begin to change, as the weight begins to lift.
