“THE PHANTOM OF ZION”
A Fantasy-Horror Feature Film

LOGLINE:

A decade after the world economy collapses, leaving the entire globe in a state of anarchy, two survivors named Vincent and Kassidy embark on a journey across a barren wasteland in search of freshwater, which has become the most prized possession in the world. Ultimately, they discover a rivertown called the District of Zion, which has established its own government and society. However, the town is ruled by a mad philosopher known as the Phantom Stranger, who preaches Satanism and leads the townspeople into worshipping murder and suicide. Vincent and Kassidy attempt to escape, but realize the Phantom’s prophecies of rapture and damnation may actually come to life.

CASTING THESE ROLES:

Primary characters needed to be cast:

Vincent von Faust. Young male. Can range anywhere from 18 to early 30s. Bold. Hard-shelled. Sarcastic. Vincent is the protagonist and appears in nearly every scene. He is a modern version of the archetypal “hero” character: A rebel with a tragic background, who is trying to save the world, but at the same time, overcome his own complexes.

Kurt Kassidy. Male. Can be portrayed in any age range. Friendly. Innocent. Humorous. Kassidy is Vincent’s ally and sidekick who travels alongside him. His childlike innocence and naïve personality is often used for comic value. However, he is also an intelligent lover of literature and geography.

Aidoneus the Phantom Stranger. A powerful female actress is preferred, but would accept a male actor if he plays the part well. Can be portrayed from middle-aged to elderly. Senile but brilliant. Aidoneus is a philosophical and numerical genius with a razor-sharp tongue, who manipulates the entire town into worshipping them like a god (think Colonel Kurtz in “Apocalypse Now”).

Supporting characters needed to be cast:

Mr. Todd Fury. Male, can range anywhere from 18 to 50s. Quick-witted, but can also be conniving and blood-thirsty. He is a bully, but ultimately redeems himself and becomes noble (think Han Solo).

Chloris. Female, can range anywhere from 18 to early 30s (since she acts opposite Vincent). Wise, in a very beautiful manner. Open-minded. Kind-hearted.

Jonathan von Faust. Male, can range anywhere from 30s to 50s. Nervous and second-guessing, but also fatherly and thoughtful. Also a reputable lawyer (think Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird”).

Regina von Faust. Female, can range anywhere from 30s to 50s (since she acts opposite Jonathan). Regina is Vincent’s mother, and therefore, quick-witted and sarcastic like her son.

If you read the script, please also note that the roles for Minos the Judge and Hermes the Messenger have already been filled.

Also note that there is a story-based reason why there are so many male characters and so few female characters. Hence, gender-switching will NOT be done for any characters (with the exception of Aidoneus).
