DIRECTOR: Anya Easkra
SHOOTING LOCATION: New York, NY
Student short comedy.
A modern variation of Anton Chekhov’s “The Stupid Frenchman” – a sensitive man’s inner monologue, as he observes his hefty restaurant neighbor gobble down multiple plates of food, that comes to an absurd and comical conclusion.
1. The Sensitive Frenchman:
Male, Caucasian, 23-40 y/o
Thin, flexible and expressive body
Used to constant pleasantries, the Frenchman is sensitive to extremities. Utterly pompous and over-the-top, his communication and reactions are very physical – he “talks” with his body, making expressive gestures with exaggerated manners.
2. The Hefty Glutton:
Male, Caucasian, 30-50 y/o
Full-bodied (think John Goodman) aristocrat
Contrary to the name, the Glutton isn’t disgusting and doesn’t have an eating problem (or so he thinks). He looks clean, wears expensive clothing, has a stylish cut and, in general, is a very well put together gentleman. Authoritative and straight forward, he is simply having the first meal of his day, which is a little later than usual – the man is hungry.
3. Waiter (background)
Male, 20-40 y/o
Lean, with great posture
He is the perfect waiter, skillful in reading the wants of the customer and always ready to serve a high class consumer.
